Job Summary

Terra Community College is seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Faculty member to teach in-person daytime courses. The successful candidate will be responsible for engaging students in the teaching/learning process, working assigned schedules, and participating in college committee work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Curriculum Development: Plan and teach courses that fulfill the current curriculum goals and objectives, remaining current with subject matter and instructional methodology.
  • Student Support: Maintain posted office hours in accordance with departmental and college policies, employ appropriate assessment techniques to measure student performance, and communicate progress in a timely manner.
  • Grading and Evaluation: Determine and submit students' grades in accordance with established college policies and procedures.
  • Program Support: Support the mission of the program, division, and college.
Requirements
  • Education: Master's Degree in Sociology is required with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in sociology.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years of teaching experience is required, preferably at a college level.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to effectively communicate one-on-one, in small groups, and classroom situations.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in word-processing and presentation software, internet, and e-mail.
  • Diversity and Inclusion: Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of students.
Work Environment
