Job Summary

Wilmington College is seeking a qualified Part Time Nurse to join our Student Health Services team. This is a part-time, 10-month position working approximately 15-20 hours per week.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the physical and mental health of the campus community, with primary attention given to students. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Evaluating and treating or referring students seeking healthcare or advice.
  2. Collaborating with the college physician during the one-hour clinic period, scheduling appointments, and assisting with sports physicals.
  3. Performing simple laboratory procedures and coordinating with the hospital lab for other procedures and radiology needs.
  4. Maintaining student health records, including gathering medical histories and immunizations, and preparing statistical reports.
  5. Presenting information to parents at registration and assisting with orientation programs for students and parents.
  6. Assisting with wellness programming throughout the year and serving as a resource for health-related initiatives.
  7. Supporting the Dean of Students and residence life department in evaluating and validating medical requests for housing, exemptions, and special equipment.
  8. Attending meetings of Student Life staff and other meetings as required.
  9. Providing transportation to appointments with doctors and/or counselors as needed.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Nursing, plus at least two years of nursing experience.
  2. Evidence of healthcare experience in a broad range of related activities.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population.
  4. Willingness to become an integral part of the college community and the community at large.
  5. Ability to plan and implement projects with a college-wide impact and demonstrated organizational ability.
  6. Knowledge of emerging and conceptual/theoretical ideas related to the profession.
  7. Background in budget development and ability to effectively control budgetary expenditures.
  8. Experience working with a student population, particularly in higher education, highly desirable.
