Job Title: Travel Contract Registered Respiratory Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist to join our team on a travel contract basis. As a Registered Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and working collaboratively with our healthcare team to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Job Summary:

This is a travel contract opportunity for a Registered Respiratory Therapist to work in Corpus Christi, Texas. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in respiratory therapy and excellent communication skills. As a travel contract employee, you will have the opportunity to work with a variety of patients and healthcare professionals, and to gain valuable experience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Monitor patient physiological responses to therapy, including arterial blood gases, vital signs, and lung function changes.
  • Work as part of a team of healthcare professionals to manage patient care, including assisting with medical procedures.
  • Set up and operate devices, including therapeutic gas administration apparatus, mechanical ventilators, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators.
  • Follow specified parameters of treatment.
  • Provide emergency care, including external cardiac massage, artificial respiration, or assistance with cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Inspect, test, clean, and maintain respiratory therapy equipment to ensure it is functioning safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain charts that contain patient identification and therapy information.
  • Measure arterial blood gases, read prescriptions, lung capacity, and review other information to assess patient condition.
  • Relay blood analysis results to a physician.
  • Make emergency visits to resolve equipment problems when necessary.
  • Order equipment repairs when necessary.
  • Explain health care treatment procedures to patients to gain cooperation.
  • Check pulmonary function in patients.
Requirements:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • National Institutes of Health (NIH)
  • Certified Principal Investigator (CPI) Certification
  • Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
  • Completion of a fully accredited Respiratory Therapist program
  • Minimum two years Respiratory Therapist experience
  • Active unencumbered Registered Respiratory Therapist state license
  • Trauma or Stroke experience (preferred)
  • NRP Certification
  • RCP-TMB Certification

  • Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and skills.
  • Participates in relevant continuing education programs.
  • Knowledge of and dedication to the highest patient care and provide the utmost service excellence to all patients.
  • Ability to take initiative and to exercise independent judgment, decision-making and problem-solving expertise.
  • A can-do, team-oriented attitude is essential, as the ability to work independently and to interact easily with physicians, other managers and staff throughout the department and hospital.
  • Effective interpersonal/communication, organizational, and the flexibility to handle multiple tasks.
