Job Summary:

The Athletic Trainer - Sports Medicine Specialist is a key member of the Sports Medicine Outreach team at Baptist Health Care. This role is responsible for providing high-quality healthcare services to assigned schools and coverage sites, with a focus on preventing, assessing, and managing athletic injuries and conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide quality healthcare services to assigned schools and coverage sites, including injury prevention, assessment, and management.
  • Act as an ambassador for Baptist Health Care and the Sports Medicine department, promoting access and availability of healthcare services to students, staff, and communities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with school administrators, coaches, and athletic directors to promote the health and well-being of student-athletes.
  • Collaborate with the Sports Medicine Outreach Leadership team to develop and implement injury prevention and management programs.
  • Document, track, and report athletic injuries from assigned schools and sites, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
  • Assist with departmental events, services, and activities, such as pre-participation physical exams, concussion baseline testing, and injury clinics.
  • Provide oversight and guidance to BHC-approved students from athletic training and healthcare-related fields programs.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Athletic Training.
  • Current license in the State of Florida and/or Alabama, depending on the assigned state.
  • Current BOC Certification.
  • BLS through the American Heart Association.
  • Knowledge of operations of the Sports Medicine Outreach Program.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and guidelines.
  • Ability to work varied shifts, including over 40 hours per week and callback as required.

Working Conditions:

This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent travel to assigned schools and coverage sites. The Athletic Trainer - Sports Medicine Specialist must be able to lift, carry, and move equipment and supplies as needed.
