Position Title: Nighttime Security Specialist

Reports To: Security Manager, Security Supervisor

Position Overview:

The Nighttime Security Specialist is primarily tasked with ensuring the safety and security of guests, staff, and the property during overnight hours. This role requires familiarity with and adherence to the hotel's established protocols and procedures. The specialist is vigilant in monitoring for any unusual, illegal, or hazardous activities on the premises.

Responsibilities include conducting thorough patrols of the property and assisting guests with room access as needed during the shift. The specialist is also responsible for overseeing Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) systems, perimeter alarms, duress alarms, and fire & life safety systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Consistently adhere to safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Conduct patrols of the interior and exterior areas to ensure all doors are secured.
  • Document and sign off on Fire Watch logs at designated intervals.
  • Monitor hallways, parking areas, stairwells, lobbies, bars, and dining establishments.
  • Verify that all guest room doors are secured and public access points are locked.
  • Ensure all security alarms and CCTV systems are operational.
  • Monitor CCTV feeds for suspicious activities and report findings to supervisors and local authorities as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed logs of all incidents and suspicious activities.
  • Respond promptly and courteously to guest requests as communicated by hotel front desk personnel.
  • Provide assistance during emergencies, including contacting emergency services or administering first aid/CPR when required.
  • Support guests and employees during crisis situations.
  • Notify appropriate personnel in the event of accidents, disturbances, or other incidents.
  • Occasionally escort loiterers or trespassers off the property as needed.
  • Secure property entrances when necessary.
  • Conduct daily inspections for physical hazards.
  • Perform all duties safely and report any incidents to the supervisor or Manager on Duty immediately.
  • Prioritize the safety and security of all guests at all times.
  • Follow key control policies and procedures in accordance with hotel standards.
  • Assist in the training of new staff members on the job.
  • Answer phone inquiries with appropriate etiquette and standard greetings.
  • Provide a comprehensive handover to the morning shift supervisor and complete the night checklist.
  • Participate in departmental meetings or training sessions as scheduled.
  • Undertake any additional responsibilities assigned by management.

Qualifications

Prerequisites:

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Basic computer proficiency.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Certification in CPR or first aid as mandated by local authorities is a plus.

Experience:

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in a similar capacity within the hospitality sector.
