About the Role

Sun Chemical is seeking a Mechanical Reliability Engineer to provide leadership and direction for the mechanical integrity and mechanical reliability programs site-wide. This role will directly supervise the Reliability Technician(s) and be responsible for ensuring the mechanical reliability programs are in accordance with all industrial and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Directs reliability programs and monitors progress
  • Performs reliability engineering tasks and projects
  • Oversees the mechanical integrity programs, including tank inspections to ASME code and evaluation of pipe and tank life expectancy
  • Develops and directs Predictive and Preventative maintenance tasks and inspections
  • Ensures reliability programs are in accordance with all industrial and regulatory requirements (PSM, etc.) and that best practices are followed
  • Works with production to evaluate AE data and drive reliability initiatives
  • Maintains the Bad Actors list and reports on continuous improvement via the Bad Actors program
  • Continuously stays abreast of the latest reliability trends and technologies
Requirements
  • BS Degree or 10+ years direct qualifying experience
  • Understanding of piping, pumps, and valves (relief valves and conservation vents)
  • 5+ years of experience working in a maintenance organization
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Proficient using SAP
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to organize and run meetings and keep them on task and on time
Preferred Experience
  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience with PSM regulations
  • Chemical, refining, or power plant experience
  • In-depth knowledge of reliability practices, i.e., vibration & lubrication analysis, leak detection, nondestructive examination, etc.
