Job Summary

As an Electrical Engineer at the University of Pittsburgh, you will play a critical role in establishing design criteria for electrical systems and reviewing plans and specifications to ensure cost-efficiency, effectiveness, and best practices. You will provide electrical design and/or project management for assigned projects, ensuring contractor and trade compliance with all project details. Additionally, you will ascertain fiscal electrical system requirements and facilitate budgetary matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct field surveys, perform electrical calculations, prepare cost estimates, and prepare construction documents.
  • Manage engineering projects, requiring mobility to inspect projects and attend meetings.
  • Assist with ongoing operations and maintenance assignments and issues, including troubleshooting power quality and equipment issues.
  • Support the university's e-metering system, monitoring real-time power usage and events throughout campus.
  • Maintain accurate as-builts of campus power systems, including single-line diagrams, power plans, duct banks, manhole plans, and details.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Combination of education and relevant experience will be considered in lieu of education and/or experience requirement.
Work Environment
