Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at Midwest Vision Partners. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a vital role in the care of patients in a clinic setting, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction throughout their visit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interact with patients to gather information and accurately document their medical history, chief complaint, and present illness.
  • Proactively engage patients in communicating what to expect during their visit and continue to communicate delays or any other changes with the patient.
  • Initiate and perform documentation of patient information in our electronic medical records system, adhering to established standards and physician requirements.
  • Conduct tests and measures eye muscle function, pupil size, and reactivity, as well as apply drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes.
  • Assist with minor surgery procedures, intraocular injections, and laser treatments, preparing patients for sterile procedures and educating them on pre and post-operative instructions.
  • Readily scribe for physicians and maintain patient confidentiality by safeguarding medical records and completing diagnostic and procedure coding.
  • Utilize effective problem-solving skills to respectfully and efficiently de-escalate any dissatisfied patients.
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of eye anatomy, disease, symptoms, and ocular medications, staying current with the latest technologies and medications.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and lift up to 50lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Electronic Medical Records (EMR) experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
