Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Concrete Finisher - Surface Specialist to join our team at Orion Group Holdings. As a key member of our operations, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality finishes on poured concrete structures.

About the Role

The primary purpose of this position is to apply expertise in surface finishing and preparation techniques to achieve exceptional results. You will work closely with our team to align forms, patch voids, and use specialized tools to create smooth, durable surfaces.

Key Responsibilities
  • Signal concrete truck drivers to position vehicles for optimal pouring efficiency.
  • Movethe discharge chute to direct concrete into forms.
  • Spread concrete into inaccessible sections using rakes or shovels.
  • Level concrete to specified depths and workable consistencies using handheld screens and floats.
  • Smooth and shape freshly poured concrete surfaces.
  • Finish concrete surfaces by wetting and rubbing with abrasive stones.
  • Remove rough or defective spots and patch holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compounds.
  • Mold expansion joints and edges.
  • Add colored stone chips, powdered steel, or coloring powder to produce desired finishes.
  • Create textured concrete surfaces using brooms.
  • Mix cement with hoes or concrete-mixing machines.
  • Direct subgrade work, concrete mixing, and form setting.
  • Repair old concrete surfaces and maintain equipment and tools.
  • Operate various equipment and tools, including cement mixers, power trowels, and surveying gear.
Requirements
  • Minimum three years of experience in concrete finishing, preferably with exposure to pier foundations, steel forming systems, and high-rise construction.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Able to work in varying weather conditions and site environments.
  • Physically fit to perform tasks involving lifting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching.
