Your Role:


Reporting to the Director, the Certified Surgical Technologist plays a vital role in supporting the surgical team by serving as the primary scrub person responsible for managing instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgical procedures.

The Certified Surgical Technologist ensures the sterile field is maintained at all times. Additionally, this role involves scrubbing for all surgical cases within the department, performing tasks essential for the efficient operation of the operating room and the delivery of high-quality care.

The position also includes various non-nursing responsibilities, all conducted in accordance with established departmental and hospital protocols.

Active participation in exceptional customer service is expected, along with a commitment to fostering respectful relationships while upholding the principles of AdventHealth.


Your Contributions to the Team:

  • Collaborates with the professional nurse in planning and preparing for surgical procedures.
  • Prepares sterile instruments and supplies, assisting the surgeon with necessary tools during surgery.
  • Observes and communicates pertinent information regarding sterile technique, patient condition, and surgeon requirements to the professional nurse.
  • Aids in creating a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for patients.

Qualifications for Success:

  • Graduate from an accredited surgical technology program upon hire.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification required upon hire.
  • Current Operating Room Technician Certification (CST) required upon hire.
  • Completion of eight hours of Hip & Knee replacement surgery education within six months of hire, with annual updates required thereafter.
