Unit Overview: The 6 North unit comprises 38 beds dedicated to cardiovascular care, focusing on adult patients with conditions such as heart failure, cardiac dysrhythmias, newly implanted pacemakers and defibrillators, LVAD readmissions, pulmonary hypertension, and other cardiac issues requiring medical intervention. Continuous telemetry monitoring is standard for most patients, with care provided around the clock.

Scope of Responsibilities: The Registered Nurse (RN) operates under the ANA scope of practice, employing the nursing process framework to deliver professional nursing care. This includes integrating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and facilitate discharge.

The RN is responsible for providing high-quality patient care under the guidance of the Nurse Leader, adhering to Corewell Health policies and procedures, and recognizing the influence of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes.

Collaboration and Education: The RN collaborates with patients and families to incorporate their input and goals into the care plan. They also develop educational strategies for patients and families, ensuring proper documentation of education and learning in health records.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required within 5 years
  • Current Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license required
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 6 months

Work Schedule: This is a full-time position with night shifts, requiring 36 hours of work per week. Variable days and every other weekend are expected.
