Magnet Medical is seeking an experienced Cath Lab Technologist to join their team in Great Falls, Montana.
Job Summary:
The successful candidate will work alongside cardiologists, radiologists, and other medical professionals to perform diagnostic and interventional procedures in the cardiac catheterization lab. Key responsibilities include preparing equipment, assisting with procedures, monitoring patient safety, and maintaining a sterile environment.
Responsibilities:
- Pre-Procedure Preparation:
- Ensure all necessary equipment and tools are sterilized, functional, and properly set up for procedures.
- Verify patient information, including medical history, allergies, and consent forms.
- Assist in patient preparation, including setting up monitoring equipment and ensuring proper positioning.
- Provide patient education and reassurance before procedures.
- Assisting with Procedures:
- Support cardiologists during cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stent placement, and electrophysiological studies.
- Handle sterile instruments, such as catheters, balloons, and stents, during procedures.
- Operate X-ray fluoroscopy equipment and assist with imaging during diagnostic tests.
- Monitor vital signs and report any abnormalities to physicians.
- Administer medications under physician direction.
- Post-Procedure Care:
- Monitor patients for complications after procedures.
- Assist with patient transfer to recovery.
- Help with patient recovery by monitoring cardiac rhythm, vital signs, and insertion sites.
- Provide post-procedure instructions to patients and families.
- Equipment Management and Maintenance:
- Maintain, clean, and sterilize cath lab equipment and instruments.
- Regularly check and troubleshoot cath lab machinery.
- Order necessary supplies and manage inventory.
- Assist in equipment calibration to ensure accurate diagnostic results.
- Patient Monitoring and Safety:
- Continuously monitor patient vital signs during procedures.
- Ensure proper documentation of patient information and procedure outcomes.
- Adhere to safety and infection control protocols.
- Monitor catheter insertion sites for signs of complications.
- Collaboration with Medical Team:
- Work closely with cardiologists, radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Attend pre-procedure meetings to review patient conditions.
- Assist in evaluating procedure results to support treatment plans.
- Education and Training:
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in cardiac catheterization techniques and best practices.
- Participate in ongoing education, certification programs, and training.
- Educate patients about their condition and follow-up care.
- Assist in training and mentoring new staff or students.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in a related field preferred.
- Current certifications as a Cath Lab Technologist or Cardiovascular Technician.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHRs) and relevant software applications.
