Job Summary

Associated Students of California State University Chico is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Audio/Visual Technician to join our team. As an Audio/Visual Technician, you will be responsible for providing technical support and services for various events and activities on campus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the setup, operation, and tear down of audiovisual equipment for events, including sound, lighting, and video systems.
  • Provide technical support for events, including troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
  • Collaborate with event planners and production teams to ensure smooth event execution.
  • Maintain and update audiovisual equipment, including cleaning and performing routine maintenance tasks.
  • Develop and implement effective solutions to improve event production and technical support.
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in 6 units for undergraduate or 4 units for graduate at California State University, Chico.
  • Strong technical skills and knowledge of audiovisual equipment and systems.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including nights and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in technical production of sound, lighting, and video for live events and performances.
  • Proficiency in live sound mixing, especially with Midas or Allen & Heath digital mixers.
  • Experience with theatrical lighting equipment, including lighting consoles, networks, and DMX cabling.
  • Proficiency in programming lighting consoles, especially ETC Eos or Onyx consoles.
  • Experience with video equipment, including video switchers, PTZ cameras, and controllers.
Working Conditions

The work environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with exposure to dust, dirt, hot equipment, electricity, and highly sensitive electronics. The Audio/Visual Technician will be required to lift, push, and pull heavy equipment up to 50 pounds unassisted, and 75+ pounds with assistance.
