Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician II to join our team at Waste Management. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing complex preventative maintenance tasks, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide variety of heavy equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Repair and maintain heavy equipment, including trucks and yellow iron, to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical systems, including differentials, hydraulic systems, motors, transmissions, drives, air conditioning systems, and electrical systems.
- Perform tasks per preventative maintenance checklist to ensure equipment is properly maintained and running efficiently.
- Complete records, such as work orders, card files, checklists, and oil samples, to track maintenance activities and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Service and maintain other equipment, such as light plants, water pumps, welders, and other equipment, as needed.
- Reference site-specific procedures and more detailed site-specific job descriptions to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- One (1) year prior heavy equipment diesel maintenance experience.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Skill in operating tools, equipment, parts, and procedures utilized during the repair and servicing of vehicles and equipment.
- Ability to effectively communicate needed repairs or tasks to management and other team members.
- Ability to diagnose defects in and repair a variety of equipment and vehicles.
- Ability to utilize fleet maintenance software program.
- Knowledge of Total Tire Maintenance Program may be required.
