Join The University of Chicago Medicine as a Physical Therapist and be part of a world-class academic healthcare system. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Physical Therapist to join our team in the Urogyn Pelvic Floor Therapy department.
Job Summary:We are looking for a Physical Therapist to perform moderately complex physical therapy services and procedures in our clinical division. The successful candidate will be responsible for program development, patient care, and supervision of patient care rendered by PTA's, technicians, and PT students.
Key Responsibilities:- Evaluate patients using advanced tests and measurements to determine physical therapy problems and expected discharge environments.
- Promote and utilize appropriate patient care protocols relating to physical, psychosocial, and developmental needs of patients.
- Establish PT interventions based on examination and evaluation, patient/family, referring practitioner, and therapist goals.
- Competently perform physical therapy services using advanced techniques and procedures.
- Provide continuity of patient care through written and verbal communication with team members and other treating disciplines.
- Document findings, progress, and procedures performed within required timeframes.
- Submit patient billing at the end of each day.
- Instruct patients/families in home programs.
- Demonstrate effective time management and achieve designated productivity standards.
- Develop new programs, support research, and develop and monitor Performance Improvement processes.
- Participate in departmental and/or organizational committees as assigned.
- Comply with QC/QI standards and monitors.
- Supervise, teach, and mentor affiliating PT/PTA students.
- Coordinate patient care provided in the area of clinical practice.
- Assume lead responsibility in the absence of the supervisor as assigned.
- Consult with faculty, house staff, and other disciplines regarding PT services.
- Attend rounds, conferences, and clinics as assigned and report on patient status and recommend patient discharge environments.
- Perform other duties as requested by therapy services management.
- Graduation from an approved physical therapy school with a Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate entry-level degree in P.T.
- Current physical therapy license in the State of Illinois.
- CPR recognition.
- Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care that is age-specific and appropriate for the types of patients served.
- Basic computer knowledge and skills to access patient data.
- Appropriate interpersonal skills to enable positive interactions with patients/families, the multidisciplinary team, and external contacts.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical physical therapy experience.
- Declaration of intent to develop advanced, clinical knowledge and skills in a focused area of clinical practice.
