Job Summary:

This is a full-time, hourly position at ADM, a leading agricultural origination and processing company. As a Product Handler/Operator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient loading and unloading of railcars and tanker trucks for distribution to customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate pumps and valves to unload dry and liquid railcars.
  • Perform and document quality control checks to ensure all products meet our quality specifications.
  • Perform and document sanitation duties of the terminal as assigned by management.
  • Complete and maintain quality control logs and forms as specified by Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Operate pumps and valves to sanitize tanker trailers.
  • Operate pumps and valves to make liquid Sucrose and Liquid Blends.
  • Handle and connect hoses.
  • Couple and uncouple trailers, cranking of dolly legs, pulling 5th wheel pins.
  • Ascending and descending tractor cabs, trailers, railcars, storage tanks, catwalks, ladders, and step stools.
  • Operate computer systems to input data and/or other business functions.

Requirements:

  • No prior experience or training.
  • Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Working Conditions:

  • Noise Level: Moderate to Loud noise level.
  • PPE: Hard hat, gloves (leather/rubber), safety glasses/goggles, steel or composite toe boots, fall protection.
  • Work Schedule: Employee will work a pre-determined schedule that can include up to 12 hour shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk.
  • Use fingers/hands to feel, reach with arms.
  • Ability to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to talk and hear.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
