We are seeking a skilled Construction Carpenter to join our team at Federal Protection Inc.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of construction experience and be certified in OSHA 10. They will be responsible for constructing, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures, ensuring a clean and safe jobsite while adhering to all plans, specifications, and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Schedule daily work for craftsmen, material deliveries, site inspections, and on-site labor
- Attend bi-weekly progress meetings with craftsmen and suppliers to facilitate coordination of site activities and schedule
- Create and provide weekly construction progress review notes to all field and office personnel
- Coordinate schedules within project master schedule parameters and inform Superintendent of any deviations
- Produce daily reports through company-provided software indicating all activities and meetings facilitated
- Maintain regular paperwork for the job file, including time sheets, daily reports, progress photos, testing reports, inspections, and as-built drawings
- Keep the job site neat and orderly through regular cleanup and good housekeeping practices
- Communicate and enforce safety rules for everyone on site
- Plan activities for upcoming weeks to coordinate issues ahead of time and eliminate re-work and added costs
- Review and send potential issues to Superintendent, Project Manager, or General Superintendent for proper RFI procedures
- Control costs through efficient use of resources and value engineering when possible
- Ensure all work complies with plans and specifications set forth by the Design Team
- Verify that completed projects meet quality standards
- Eliminate the need for prolonged schedules and warranty work by staying on top of all construction activities daily
- Prepare and complete as-built drawings with Superintendent
- Supervise completion of punch list items assigned
- Rough carpentry, finish carpentry, formwork, concrete pouring, site cleanup, and other construction scopes as required
- Send requests for on-site equipment to Superintendent and/or General Superintendent for proper documentation and notify when returned
- Review required project materials with Superintendent and/or General Superintendent to create purchase orders
- Operate equipment as needed, including all-terrain forklift, skid steer, scissor lift, core drill, concrete saw, etc.
- Capitalize on daily opportunities for excellence
- Minimum of 5 years of construction experience
- OSHA 10 certified
- Strong organizational skills
- General knowledge of all building phases and trades
- Ability to stack schedule and accomplish work in shortest timeframe possible while adhering to plans, specs, and quality standards
- Effective communication skills, including MS Office software, email, and cell phone
- Analytical skills to examine issues from multiple viewpoints
- Proactive approach to solving problems
- Ability to work well with diverse personalities
- Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs often and up to 100 lbs occasionally
- Ability to work indoors or outdoors in all temperatures and weather conditions
- Ability to walk over uneven terrain and climb ladders
- Perform occasional concrete work, rough and trim carpentry
- Dress and act in a professional manner at all times
- Fluent English language skills
