Job Summary

The Nursing Assistant plays a vital role in providing exceptional patient care in the Neuroscience Step Down Unit at UCI Health. As a key member of the healthcare team, you will work closely with professional and technical nursing personnel to ensure the highest level of care for our patients.

Responsibilities
  • Take and record vital signs, assisting patients with hygiene and elimination, and maintaining a clean and safe unit environment.
  • Assist with stocking unit supplies, operating hospital equipment as directed, performing routine clerical tasks, and assisting with other related duties as assigned.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide comprehensive patient care, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, ensuring clear understanding and addressing concerns in a professional manner.
Qualifications
  • Understanding of basic medical terminology.
  • Nursing Assistants hired prior to May 2010 who did not possess certification as a Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) are not required to obtain it at this time.
  • Must be able to work variable shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak effectively in English.
  • Must be Certified Nurses Assistant, Licensed Vocational Nurse, or enrolled in an accredited nursing program with completion of at least one clinical semester.
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in a therapeutic way.
  • Demonstrated patient care experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
Licenses and Certifications
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification is required.
