We are seeking a highly trained critical care nurse to work in our hospital's PACU, caring for patients recovering from anesthesia. This is a unique opportunity to join our team and make a difference in the lives of our patients.
Responsibilities- Develop patient plans of care, including patient problems, goals, evaluations, and interventions.
- Report symptoms and significant changes in patients' conditions to appropriate personnel.
- Assess, collaborate, and coordinate patients' discharge planning needs and readiness for discharge with other members of the care team.
- Apply age-specific standards, policies, and procedures in caring for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Administer medications based on patients' ages and follow age-specific standards of care during altered states of consciousness related to analgesia, conscious sedation, or anesthesia.
- Perform and interpret EKGs and report findings to physicians.
- Assess patients' and families' learning needs, abilities, preferences, and readiness to learn.
- Utilize a collaborative interdisciplinary process to provide appropriate patient and family education.
- Document all findings appropriately and in a timely manner.
- Effectively explain the rationale for care provided to patients and their families.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current licensure in good standing.
- Evidence of current AHA BLS, PALS, and ACLS credentials.
- Minimum one year of current PACU hospital experience.
