About the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit

The Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) at Cleveland Clinic is a 15-bed, Level 4 unit that provides specialized care to adult patients with suspected or confirmed seizure disorders. Our team of experienced caregivers is dedicated to providing comprehensive care to patients, including monitoring, evaluation, and treatment of seizure disorders.

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit. The successful candidate will provide direct nursing care to patients, implement and monitor patient care plans, and work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to patients, including administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and performing other nursing interventions as needed.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans, including developing and updating care plans, and communicating with patients and families about care plans.
  • Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes, including participating in patient care conferences and contributing to the development of patient care plans.
  • Monitor and record patient data, including vital signs, laboratory results, and other relevant information.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless care coordination.
Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • One year of current acute care RN experience. Will consider military RN experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN).
Physical Requirements
  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
