Laboratory Science Specialist

As a Medical Laboratory Scientist at Geisinger Medical Laboratories, you will be responsible for:
- Maintaining an expected level of productivity while performing and reporting various analyses from multiple specimen sources.
- Managing multiple work processes efficiently to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Handling specimens properly, confirming identification and specimen suitability, and using appropriate accessioning procedures.
- Recognizing discrepancies on patient orders, resolving and reporting problems and solutions as appropriate.
- Performing and recording instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality control, as well as replenishing reagents and supplies according to established protocols.
- Following established reporting procedures, including computerized, verbal, and manual reports as necessary.
- Navigating and accessing multiple computer applications as needed for job functionality.
- Assisting in the training and orientation of new employees.
- Participating in educational activities to maintain current knowledge in the field.
- Successfully completing initial and subsequent competency exams.
Educational Requirements
To qualify for this role, you must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or a related field, and/or equivalent experience in a clinical laboratory setting. A minimum of one year of experience in a laboratory setting is preferred. You must also be able to navigate and access multiple computer applications as needed for job functionality. Additionally, you must be willing to participate in educational activities to maintain current knowledge in the field and successfully complete initial and subsequent competency exams.
