Overview

Under close supervision, the individual will engage in reproduction tasks utilizing offset printing presses and associated machinery.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities outlined below are essential functions common to roles within this classification. They are not exhaustive and may include additional duties of a similar nature.

  • Configures, adjusts, operates, and maintains offset printing presses to reproduce various materials including forms, reports, publications, and other printed materials; performs necessary adjustments based on stock type, plate or master type, ink color, and production length.
  • Operates and maintains various other machines and equipment such as plate makers, folding machines, collators, cutters, binders, power staplers, and copiers.
  • Aids in managing the inventory of paper, chemicals, inks, and other necessary supplies.

Additional Duties

  • Completes other assigned tasks as required.

Working Environment

The role is typically performed in an office setting, utilizing standard office equipment and computer terminals. Work may occur near mechanical equipment and in environments with elevated noise levels.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of the processes, techniques, and equipment involved in offset printing.
  • Familiarity with the functions and operational characteristics of other reproduction equipment such as plate makers and folding machines.
  • Capability to execute assigned tasks accurately and within designated timelines.
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining offset printing presses and auxiliary machinery.

Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with two years of experience in offset lithography, including at least one year of experience operating high-speed xerographic equipment.

Substitution Policy

Additional experience in offset lithography and high-speed xerographic equipment may substitute for high school education on a year-for-year basis. Completion of a technical training program in the printing field may also substitute for one year of the required experience.
