Job Overview:

As an Infection Control Specialist at Deaconess, you will be responsible for leading the hospital's Infection Surveillance, Prevention, and Control activities. This includes assessing, monitoring, and making recommendations to reduce infections and maintaining hospital-wide infection surveillance, prevention, and control policies.

You will also oversee the Patient Safety program and work with organizational and community stakeholders to implement infection reduction strategies and patient safety improvement practices.

This role requires expertise in conferring with stakeholders to implement infection reduction strategies and patient safety improvement practices.

Educational duties will be added to meet clinical education requirements.

Required:

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) in Kentucky or a compact licensed state
  • Certification from APIC, CIC must be obtained within 2 years of hire
  • 3-5 years of acute patient care

Preferred Certification/License/Experience:

  • Specialized training/experience in Infection control or closely related field preferred
  • Certification from APIC, CIC preferred, as it must be obtained within 2 years of hire
  • Membership in APIC or SHEA, with Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement infection control policies and procedures
  • Conduct surveillance and monitoring of infections
  • Provide education and training to staff on infection control practices
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to implement infection reduction strategies
