Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to join our team at the Town of Davie. As a Public Works Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, inspecting, and maintaining public works stormwater projects and facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and inspect public works stormwater projects and facilities
  • Ensure compliance with Town's procurement policies and procedures
  • Coordinate and review design and construction of stormwater projects
  • Inspect stormwater maintenance activities and projects under construction
  • Ensure facilities are maintained and/or constructed in accordance with proper engineering practices and techniques
  • Comply with pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, including NPDES and CRS requirements
  • Report to Assistant Public Works and Capital Projects Director
  • Maintain and update asset and inspection management database in the Geographic Information System (GIS)
  • Maintain accurate, clear, and concise documentation for the CRS and the NPDES database
  • Write and administer grant requests for environmental and stormwater related projects through local, state, and federal agencies
  • Coordinate preliminary and final plans, designs, and permits for public works stormwater projects
  • Prepare reports/agreements and make recommendations relating to the conduct of engineering activities
  • Provide coordination and supervision to consultant personnel engaged in the design and inspection of public works and capital improvement construction projects
  • Train personnel in inspection and materials testing procedures and techniques
  • Participate in the inspection of projects for compliance with plans and specifications
  • Apply and obtain construction permits and schedule inspections with the Town and other agencies as applicable
  • Provide technical information to contractors, consultants, and other Town departments and the general public
  • Assist in the formulation of long-range programs of public works stormwater facilities
  • Monitor and direct projects, including preparing bid documents, specifying construction materials and standards, contractor selection, preparing council agendas and resolutions, project planning and scheduling, and supervising repair projects from design through completion
  • Participate in assessment and design of stormwater and culverts and other municipal projects as applicable
  • Ensure services are delivered in accordance with policies, procedures, performance standards, and contract specifications
  • Respond to emergency calls during and/or after work hours
  • Coordinate maintenance activities and construction projects with other Town departments and government entities
  • Assist in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and performance standards for contracted services

Requirements:

  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field
  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in the design and construction of public works stormwater projects
  • Registration as an Engineer-In-Training in the State of Florida or ability to obtain same within one year of employment
