Job Summary

Amergis is seeking a skilled Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare staff, you will assist physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiac and peripheral vascular disease and cardiac arrhythmias in the Cath/EP Lab.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiac and peripheral vascular disease and cardiac arrhythmias in an invasive procedure arena.
  • Perform basic diagnostic catheterization procedures on adult patients with known and suspected congenital and acquired cardiac and peripheral vascular disease.
  • Perform basic interventional procedures, including PTCA, stent preparation and placement, IABP placement and operation.
  • Perform basic EP procedures, including EP studies, implantation of pacemakers, ICDs, BIV ICDs, and ablations.
  • Operate physiologic and radiographic equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Maintain established professional standards and observe all safety requirements to achieve a high level of quality patient care.
  • Continually attend in-service training classes to keep critical patient care and equipment skills current.
  • Responsible for patient transport and maintaining good communication with the patient.
  • Perform EKG lead placement, blood pressure, and pulse oximetry setup for hemodynamic monitoring.
  • Responsible for procedure room preparation and breakdown duties, including fluid preparation, stocking rooms, narcotic counts, daily QC checks, radiographic, hemodynamic, and computer setup, and room cleanup.
  • Prepare sterile procedure trays and patient sterile fields appropriately for specified procedure types.
  • Observe all occupational and radiation safety regulations and wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Acquire and accurately document pertinent patient data on encounter forms and enter into hemodynamic and X-ray systems.
  • Assist physicians with EP diagnostic and mapping systems, including Carto, EPMed, and ESI.
  • Maintain sterile procedures and infectious controls, observe all fluid patency of catheters, balloons, and manifolds, and assist according to physician direction.
  • Adhere to all Amergis and work site rules, policies, and procedures.
Requirements
  • Graduate of CCAHEP or ASCP/SCP accredited program preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in biology, anatomy, physiology, or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience in Cardiac Cath Lab preferred.
  • ACLS/PALS per contract requirements.
  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice.
  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
  • Current CPR if applicable.
  • TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable.
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site.
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required.
  • Computer proficiency required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
