The Lead Software Solutions Engineer brings a wealth of experience in delivering impactful software solutions with intuitive approaches. This role is adept at troubleshooting and plays a crucial part in swiftly resolving challenges. Lead Software Solutions Engineers excel in design and documentation, often prioritizing these tasks over coding. They actively manage and escalate risks and issues that affect customers in their daily responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop solutions that address significant technological and business objectives.
  • Proficient in various contexts, including programming languages, security, automation, testing, and business sectors, becoming a go-to resource for many colleagues.
  • Engage in strategic technology discussions and understand their implications for Discover as a whole.
  • Anticipate and mitigate issues based on intuition and extensive experience across multiple domains.
  • Mentor technology communities within Discover.

Essential Qualifications:

To be considered, you should possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Over 6 years of experience in Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Internal candidates: a technical proficiency rating of proficient on the Dreyfus engineering scale.

Preferred Qualifications:

Additional qualifications that would be advantageous include:

  • Experience working within an Agile engineering or development team.
  • Familiarity with mobile device development.
  • Strong grasp of object-oriented principles and the ability to produce clean code.
  • Extensive experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Proficient in CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or similar tools; Git/GitHub; Artifactory.
  • Proven expertise in designing for high availability and scalability, along with performance monitoring.
  • Experience in cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Ability to build secure web applications with user authentication.
  • Understanding of software testing principles and methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Java, HTML5, JavaScript, jQuery, and CSS.
  • Expertise in responsive web development.
  • Knowledge of React.

Compensation:

The base salary for this role typically ranges from $104,000.00 to $175,000.00. Additional incentives may be included as part of a competitive total compensation package. Factors such as geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may influence the pay for this position.
