As a Registered Nurse in our Operating Room, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare system.
Job SummaryThe Registered Nurse Operating Room will independently plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care in patient care situations using standards of care and policy and procedure. This role requires a strong foundation in nursing principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provide direct nursing care to patients, utilizing problem-solving skills and critical thinking to deliver high-quality care.
- Document medical and nursing patient care information in the electronic or paper medical record, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Utilize interview techniques to obtain patient history and provide appropriate intervention, identifying standards of care common to patient populations.
- Deliver patient care and treatment using problem-solving skills and critical thinking, demonstrating knowledge of medication dosages for patient populations served.
- Evaluate outcomes of care to determine if patient needs were met, providing feedback and suggestions for improvement.
- Complete care assignments in a reasonable amount of time, reporting to oncoming shifts the care that should be provided and/or needs that have yet to be addressed.
- Follow hospital standards related to the Kronos system, accepting responsibility for own learning needs and attending courses and in-services offered.
- Serve as a preceptor for new employees, coworkers, and students, evaluating their performance by validating clinical and technical skills and interpersonal interactions.
- Maintain communication with patient family/significant other as patient progresses through the continuum of care.
Requirements include a Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Florida, one year of recent OR experience, and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
Intermediate computer knowledge is also required, with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
