About the Role: We are seeking a Lead Radiation Hardness Assurance Specialist to join our team at CesiumAstro, Inc. This is a unique opportunity to work on key aspects of our radiation hardness assurance program and contribute to the development of our space applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Radiation Environment Simulation and Testing: Utilize tools like OMERE to simulate radiation environments and plan and conduct radiation tests on components and products.
  • Upset Rate Prediction: Combine environmental simulations with test data to predict upset rates.
  • Hardware and Software Support: Advise hardware engineers on part selection and contribute to a Parts Control Board, and advise software and firmware engineers on best practices for software radiation tolerance.
  • System-Level Analysis: Perform system-level analysis of radiation risk.
  • Design Reviews: Participate in design reviews for hardware, software, and firmware to ensure radiation reliability.
  • Customer Requirements: Digest requirements from potential customers to shape our product-level radiation roadmap.
  • Industry Knowledge: Keep up with the latest industry practices, standards, and requirements.
  • Team Growth: Help grow the radiation effects team via interviews, training, and mentorship.
  • External Partnerships: Manage the relationship with external radiation consultants.
  • Business Development: Advise Business Development on radiation effects for bids and proposals.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor of Science (BS) or higher degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics from an accredited university.
  • A minimum of 6 years of space product experience.
  • Direct experience performing many or all of the responsibilities listed above.
  • Direct experience working with commercial parts in radiation environments.
  • A good understanding of radiation physics relevant to electronic components.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication ability.

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on experience.
