We at Subsea 7 UK & Global IRM are seeking a motivated and collaborative team member to enhance our engineering division in Houston.

Role Overview:
A Mechanical Engineer within the Customized Solutions team will be a creative problem solver, tasked with delivering practical solutions to complex challenges.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate proficiency in 3D CAD software, analytical skills, calculations, and project management.

Responsibilities include managing a defined scope of work from initial inquiry through to conceptualization, detailed design, execution, and project completion.

This position requires collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team and effective communication with clients and suppliers, both internal and external.

The role also involves contributing to the evolution of Subsea 7's policies and procedures.

All team members are expected to foster a positive Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) culture within Subsea 7 and ensure compliance with local HSEQ regulations.


Main Responsibilities:
  • Experience in a responsive, service-oriented environment.
  • Strong understanding of project and product life cycles.
  • Proficient in schedule management.
  • Aptitude for developing intricate systems.
  • Prepare and present technical information to customers and potential clients.
  • Utilize technical expertise to articulate the advantages of our products compared to competitors.
  • Engage with clients and engineers to evaluate equipment needs and determine system specifications.
  • Collaborate with sales teams to comprehend customer requirements and provide necessary support.
  • Adapt products to fulfill customer demands.
  • Assist clients in troubleshooting issues with existing equipment.
  • Recommend enhancements in materials or equipment to clients, demonstrating how modifications can reduce costs or boost productivity.
  • Prior operational experience in the ROV sector.
  • Experience in vendor and third-party management.

Bid Support:
  • Provide technical insights and pricing for external proposals.
  • Offer technical contributions and pricing for internal Subsea 7 proposals.
  • Develop bid documentation, including storyboards, operational methodologies, and concept explanations.
  • Communicate with clients to clarify and respond to inquiries.

Required Qualifications:
  • Professional qualifications - Accredited Engineering Degree, preferably in Mechanical, Ocean, or Structural Engineering.
  • Relevant Engineering Experience in Subsea Oil and Gas - 2+ years.
  • Familiarity with ABS, DNV, and ASME Codes and Standards.
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis Programs.
  • Material Selection expertise.
  • Technical calculation skills.
  • Proficiency in 3D Modeling Software.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Strong background in mechanical/hydraulic design engineering and exposure to ROV/Diver intervention activities.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with AutoCAD Inventor.
  • Structural Design knowledge (desirable but not essential).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, and MathCad.
