Job Summary

Mount Wachusett Community College is seeking a highly qualified ESOL Instructor to join our team as an Academic Development Specialist. This is a part-time, grant-funded position that will involve delivering remote academic instruction in the arts, social justice, and the human experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instructional Design and Delivery: Develop and deliver rigorous remote academic instruction in the arts, social justice, and the human experience, utilizing evidence-based instructional practices and aligning with the Massachusetts English Language Proficiency Standards for Adult Education.
  • Curriculum Development: Collaborate with program staff and administration to design and implement curriculum that supports the acquisition of foundational English language skills, academic skills to support post-secondary enrollment, digital literacy skills, and workplace readiness skills.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments to inform instructional design and delivery, and to measure student learning and academic progress.
  • Student Support: Work cooperatively with Advisors to assist each enrolled student in the development of a comprehensive education and career plan, and provide individualized learning opportunities as needed.
  • Professional Development: Participate in regularly scheduled curriculum development and program improvement activities, and engage in common planning time with peers to develop creative and engaging lessons.
  • Technology Integration: Effectively utilize technology to enhance student learning and increase student progress, including the Google Workspace for Education suite of applications and other educational technology as needed.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree: A Master's degree in Critical Thinking or a closely related field is required.
  • Experience: Three (3) years of experience and/or training that includes program coordination, teaching, critical thinking instruction, curriculum development, and computer operations in a community college environment is required.
  • Desired Qualifications: Experience teaching in the Public Adult Education System, former or current K-12 Certification, experience delivering remote programming, and experience using the Google Workspace for Education suite of applications or similar collaborative online tools are desired.
What We Offer
  • Competitive Salary: A competitive salary range of $32.64 - $42.84 per hour, based on interval.
  • Part-time, Grant-funded Position: This is a part-time, grant-funded position that will involve delivering remote academic instruction in the arts, social justice, and the human experience.
  • Benefits: No benefits are offered for this part-time, grant-funded position.
  • Hours per Week: Not to exceed 18 hours per week.
  • Number of Weeks: Based on needs.
