The Overhead Crane Service Technician will play a crucial role in applying both electrical and mechanical expertise to ensure the effective inspection, installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead cranes and hoists. This position may require travel within the designated service area and occasional assignments outside the local region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair all mechanical and electrical systems associated with cranes.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of bridge and gantry cranes.
  • Install and decommission various types of crane systems and equipment.
  • Modify and enhance crane components as necessary.
  • Fabricate and install parts related to crane equipment setups.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of all tasks performed.

Essential Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent certification.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in crane operations and maintenance.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Proficiency with bridge and gantry cranes.
  • Experience in modifying crane components.
  • Familiarity with welding techniques.
  • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Competence in using shop tools for repairs and inspections.
  • Principal Duties:
  • Perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on electric overhead traveling cranes and hoists at various customer locations. Availability for on-call service as part of the service office rotation is required.

Education:

An Associate degree in Industrial Electrical/Mechanical Technology or a related field is preferred, along with relevant vocational training and experience. A high school diploma or GED is mandatory.

Experience:

At least one year of experience in electrical troubleshooting and mechanical repair is required. Some electronic experience is beneficial but not essential. Previous experience with cranes is advantageous. Military veterans, current Reservists, and National Guard members are encouraged to consider this opportunity.

Additional Requirements:

A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are necessary. Candidates must be willing to work at heights and handle physical tasks, including lifting up to 100 lbs on occasion. This role involves frequent climbing, balancing, and overhead reaching, with exposure to various environmental conditions.

Other responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor. Participation in monthly safety meetings and maintaining company vehicles and uniforms in a presentable manner is expected. Adherence to all safety protocols and regulations is mandatory.
