Maintenance Manager Job Description

QualiTech is seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Manager to lead our site maintenance function in providing a proactive and reactive, multi-skilled maintenance service on all operational equipment and facilities infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules, preventive maintenance programs, and emergency repair protocols to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency of production equipment.
  • Manage all machine uptime and downtime, ensuring minimal production losses.
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of maintenance technicians, ensuring they are well-trained, motivated, and equipped to perform their tasks effectively.
  • Oversee the maintenance, repair, and replacement of machinery and equipment, including mixers, kettles, conveyors, SWACOs, pumps, mezzanines, and metal detectors.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements, including FDA, BRC, GMP, and SQF.
  • Develop and manage the maintenance budget, including parts, labor, and outside services, and monitor expenditures to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Quickly diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions and breakdowns to minimize production downtime, and implement root cause analysis to prevent recurring issues.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs or services, and evaluate and select vendors, negotiate contracts, and oversee their performance.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, equipment upgrades, and operational efficiencies, and lead projects to implement new technologies or practices that enhance production capabilities.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and inventory, and prepare and present regular reports on maintenance operations and performance metrics to senior management.
Requirements:
  • Technical degree or general education degree with more than 5 years industrial maintenance or equivalent experience.
  • Two-year management experience desired.
  • Forklift certification.
  • OSHA 10 or higher certification.
  • Proficient use of hand and power tools, pipe threading, TIG welding.
  • Electrical experience with AC/DC high and low voltages.
  • Read and comprehend schematics, blueprints, specifications, procedure manuals, and instructions.
  • Possess a valid Special MN Boiler's License, or ability to obtain.
  • Skilled operation of stand-up and sit-down forklifts.

  • Strong organization, prioritization, multi-tasking, and planning skills.
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Good computer skills and MS Office knowledge.
  • Knowledge of maintenance and asset management software (FIIX, MP2, etc.).
  • Embrace business and personal continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in an FDA-regulated environment.
Work Environment:

Exposure to noise, heat, excessive changes in temperature and humidity, and airborne dust particles.

Wear safety equipment, including bump caps, hearing protection, hair net, beard net (if applicable), uniforms, safety glasses, gloves, and safety boots.
