UF Health is seeking a highly skilled Coding Analyst - Denial Management Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our coding team, you will play a critical role in maintaining a low denial rate and high reimbursement rate at an enterprise level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a high coding standard within the enterprise by organizing and planning projects to improve the effectiveness of dynamic coding, reimbursement rates, and appeal turnover rates.
  • Perform analysis for denial trend improvement, including EPIC system edits, coding validation, CDM processes that affect reimbursement, authorization trends, and performance improvement, and payer denial trends.
  • Educate departments on appropriate charging, billing, and coding issues to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Work with managed care and compliance to resolve issues with departments and payers.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • At least one of the following coding certifications: CPC, COC, RHIT, RHIA, CCS, or CCA
  • 1-2 years coding experience and 1-2 years denial and insurance experience
  • Preferred experience in coding, medical record review, auditing, and insurance experience

Desirable Skills:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of hospital billing and reimbursement, Medicare and Medicaid denials and appeals, third-party contracts, federal and state regulations governing the healthcare industry
  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to complete the job with minimal errors and work independently
  • Proficient organizational skills
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products such as: Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines
  • Ability to read and interpret EOBs
  • Strong research and problem-solving skills
  • High level of comfort with computer systems
