Job Overview:

This role involves collaborating with manufacturing and facility teams to innovate and implement automation and PLC solutions aimed at enhancing operational capabilities, effectiveness, and ensuring employee safety.

The Senior Manufacturing Controls Engineer will spearhead projects through management activities, requirements gathering, testing automation systems, and transitioning solutions to production teams.


Key Responsibilities:


The ideal candidate will be adept at working independently, engaging with various internal stakeholders to gather insights and design effective solutions that meet organizational goals.

Must demonstrate initiative and the ability to manage projects and initiatives effectively.

Provide support for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) to oversee processes governed by PLC systems, troubleshoot issues, and develop new applications for manufacturing process control using relevant programming languages.

Proficient in reading and creating PLC ladder logic diagrams (input modules, central processing unit, and output modules). Plan and execute projects involving the development and application of controls and automation, collaborating with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, and Safety, Health & Environment (SH&E) representatives.

Maintain comprehensive safe process instructions by adhering to established manufacturing and SH&E protocols.

Engage in proposal and pre-contract activities.
Interface with both internal and external suppliers and clients.

Participate in preliminary and critical design reviews.

Assist in preparing for and engaging in process and manufacturing reviews. Diagnose existing systems to resolve issues and recommend enhancements.

Accurately document problems, solutions, and outcomes in clear written and verbal communications.
Willingness to travel up to 25% to support suppliers or other manufacturing locations.
Occasional off-shift and weekend work may be necessary to meet project timelines.
Must be eligible to obtain US security clearance.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 9 years of relevant manufacturing experience, or a Graduate Degree with at least 7 years of experience.

Alternatively, a minimum of 13 years of relevant manufacturing experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. A minimum of 7 years of experience as a manufacturing engineer and/or PLC programmer is required, along with 4 years of experience programming Control Systems (PLC, HMI's).


Preferred Skills:
Proven success in implementing automation, robotics, or other operational/testing solutions is essential.
Demonstrated manufacturing expertise is required.
Ability to interpret end-item drawings, specifications, and requirements is necessary.
Project management experience is preferred.
Experience working with third-party integrators is desirable.
Familiarity with programming robotics is a plus.
Experience in developing statements of work and requirements definitions is advantageous.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and statistical process control tools is preferred.
