As a Field Engineer at American Engineering Testing Inc, you will provide critical support to the Construction Services Division by assisting engineers and technicians with various projects. Your tasks will include conducting geotechnical field testing, performing special inspection services, and assisting in laboratory testing and documentation.
Key Responsibilities- Field and Laboratory Work:
- Conduct geotechnical field testing and special inspection services as needed.
- Perform soil boring layout, documentation, and utility clearance.
- Assist in training less experienced personnel in routine field work and documentation.
- Conduct soil laboratory tests and log/classify soil samples.
- Performance of Work/Report Preparation:
- Prepare reports of field and laboratory work.
- Communicate with clients to determine project needs.
- Complete tasks in accordance with project quality requirements.
- Assist in maintaining and improving the materials testing laboratory.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geological, or related Engineering field.
- 0-3 years of experience in an engineering or science-related field.
- Internship or previous work experience preferred.
- Knowledge of fundamental engineering or scientific principles.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) and ability to achieve professional registration (PE).
- Experience using personal computer software, especially Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work at environmental remediation, industrial, and construction sites.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
This role primarily operates in a field environment with outdoor conditions, uneven ground, and adverse weather. Secondary operations take place in an office environment with standard office equipment.
Physical DemandsThe physical demands of this job include standing, walking, and using hands or fingers to handle or feel objects. Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50-100 pounds is required. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
