About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Plant Cost Accountant to join our team at Smithfield Foods. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for providing financial reporting and analysis to support business decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Compile and analyze financial data from various sources to prepare daily reports, including yield reports, daily pack reports, and labor reports.
  • Perform month-end activities, including journal entries, plant variance and account reconciliations.
  • Assist in the timely measurement and explanation of plant variances and operating costs on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Support the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
  • Provide back-up and support to other accounting staff as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field and 2+ years of professional accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial analysis.
  • Excellent Excel skills, including data manipulation and formula creation.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure.
