Position Overview

Intensive In-Home Counselor
At Talk About It LLC, we offer Intensive In-Community (IIC) counseling services aimed at supporting families in New Jersey who are linked to PerformCare, the designated Contracted System Administrator (CSA) for the state's Children's System of Care (CSOC). We invite applications from licensed clinicians in New Jersey.

We welcome applicants with the following credentials (or equivalent) to apply for the IIC role in various counties including Middlesex, Essex, Passaic, Union, Monmouth, Ocean, and Hudson: Licensed Social Worker (Supervision available for LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Psychologist, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in good standing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver in-home counseling services to youth aged 5-21 and their families.
  • Exhibit proficiency in the necessary knowledge and skills to address clients' psychological and social requirements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate maintenance of clinically relevant documentation.
  • Travel to clients' homes for meetings and sessions.
  • Participate in scheduled treatment planning meetings.
  • Engage professionally and respectfully with clients, families, staff, and care managers.
  • Plan for the conclusion of services and communicate these plans clearly to all parties involved.
  • Uphold confidentiality of records in accordance with HIPAA, professional ethics, and agency policies.
  • Provide crisis intervention when necessary.
  • Conduct and document comprehensive Biopsychosocial assessments.
  • Possess a personal vehicle for travel purposes.
  • Educate youth and caregivers on strategies to manage maladaptive and high-risk behaviors while fostering healthier family dynamics.
  • Implement evidence-based practices in alignment with agency policies and regulations.
  • Collaborate with each member of the child-family team (CFT), which may include behavioral assistants, mentors, psychiatrists, teachers, care managers, DCP&P, school administration, and other community resources.
  • Willingness to conduct in-person sessions is advantageous due to increased demand.
  • Preferred Specializations/Skills:
  • Trauma-informed therapy
  • Experience with racial trauma
  • Working with youth with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
  • Multilingual capabilities
  • Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC)
  • Experience with youth from diverse ethnic backgrounds
  • Addressing sexualized behavior
  • Experience with LGBTQIA+ youth
  • Parenting skills development
