Job Summary:

As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care by performing ultrasound examinations and producing diagnostic images. This position requires a strong foundation in ultrasound technology and excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Examination Preparation: Prepare patients for ultrasound examinations by explaining the procedure, answering questions, and ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Equipment Operation: Select and operate ultrasound equipment to obtain high-quality images, following established protocols and guidelines.
  • Image Analysis: Review and analyze ultrasound images to identify abnormal conditions and prepare initial diagnoses for review by radiologists.
  • Report Generation: Prepare and submit reports detailing the number and type of examinations conducted, as well as any notable findings.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain ultrasound equipment, examination rooms, and related supplies to ensure optimal performance and patient safety.
  • Collaboration: Work effectively with healthcare teams, including radiologists, physicians, and other sonographers, to ensure seamless patient care.
Requirements:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an ARDMS-accredited or equivalent program in ultrasound technology required.
  • Experience: Minimum one year of experience as a sonographer, including on-the-job training and internships.
  • Certifications: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate - Abdomen or Ob-Gyn within 12 months of hire; Basic Life Support certification required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certifications: Certifications such as breast or RVT preferred.

This position requires working in a fast-paced healthcare environment, with frequent exposure to patients and medical equipment. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team-oriented setting, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
