Job Overview:

The role of the Water and Wastewater Treatment Operator II is essential for the effective management of water and wastewater facilities, ensuring adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This position is critical in maintaining the integrity of water distribution and wastewater collection systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Operate and monitor water treatment and wastewater facilities to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  2. Conduct routine sampling, monitoring, and testing of water and wastewater to maintain quality control.
  3. Perform laboratory analyses including pH, turbidity, and chemical levels to ensure operational efficiency.
  4. Execute maintenance and repair tasks on plant machinery and equipment, ensuring optimal performance.
  5. Collect and analyze samples, calibrate laboratory instruments, and document findings accurately.
  6. Oversee the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems to monitor operational parameters.
  7. Prepare detailed reports on testing results and operational activities, maintaining accurate records.
  8. Ensure a safe working environment in compliance with OSHA standards and organizational policies.
  9. Assist in training new operators and participate in ongoing professional development to maintain necessary certifications.

Required Qualifications:

Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED, along with a minimum of two years of experience in the operation of water or wastewater treatment facilities. Equivalent combinations of education and experience that provide the necessary knowledge and skills will also be considered.

Certifications:

A valid Georgia driver's license is required, along with a Class II Water or Wastewater Operator License from the State of Georgia.
