Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our Cardiothoracic Surgery team at NYU Langone Hospital - Brooklyn. As a key member of our team, you will provide exceptional patient care and work collaboratively with our surgeons and healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to individuals and families, adhering to the philosophy of NYU Langone Health - Brooklyn and departmental goals.
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, develop treatment plans, and implement therapeutic regimes in accordance with institutional protocols.
  • Document all patient encounters, including assessments, progress notes, treatment rendered, patient teaching, follow-up, and referrals.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, reports, and statistics for administrative purposes and reimbursement.
  • Participate in rounds with attending staff and/or house staff on assigned patients, collaborating with other healthcare professionals and families to ensure seamless care transitions.
  • Provide preventive health services, including counseling and teaching on health maintenance and problem-related areas.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and participate in committees as needed.
  • Attend scheduled departmental meetings and conferences, staying up-to-date on the latest developments in cardiothoracic surgery.
  • Be available for on-call duties during non-working hours to assist attendings in urgent or emergent situations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • At least 1 year of cardiac procedural experience.
  • Current licensure as a Physician Assistant in the State of New York.
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP Provider, and NALS certifications per delineation of privileges.
  • DEA Certificate required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 1 year of experience working in a high-volume cardiac surgery program.
  • Experience acting as first assist in surgical cases and as the primary vein harvester with demonstrated proficiency in endoscopic vein harvest.
  • Experience with radial artery harvesting.
