About the Financial Accountant II position:


The Financial Accountant II is responsible for preparing journal entries, conducting complex reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies, and analyzing trends and costs to validate outcomes.

This team member utilizes several years of experience and judgment to organize and execute a variety of job functions and closing activities.

The Financial Accountant II operates under moderate supervision and engages with other departments and/or external parties as needed.

What you will be doing:
Calculate and verify accruals

Prepare monthly management reports and analyses, including ad-hoc requests

Conduct reconciliations of assigned general ledger accounts

Investigate, resolve, and document reconciling items requiring critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Respond to inquiries and provide requested information to both internal and external auditors

Assist with documentation and compliance related to Sarbanes-Oxley

Consistently question unusual or non-routine transactions and account balance discrepancies

Participate in special projects as required

Qualifications:
What makes you an ideal candidate?

Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Access Database

Familiarity with the Accounting Standards Codification

Comprehension of financial statements

Knowledge of the accounts payable process

Experience with database query tools

Ability to analyze monthly financial statements and complex transactions

Capacity to manage multiple tasks and work independently

Advanced proficiency in Excel

Experience

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or several years of progressive experience in a true Accounting role (not Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable) required

2-4 years of experience in public or general accounting and/or financial analysis, preferably within a financial services context required
