Job Summary:
We are seeking a qualified Child Health Advocate to join our team at Maryville Academy. This is an excellent opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of children and their families.

As a Pediatric Healthcare Professional, you will be responsible for providing quality skilled nursing services to patients according to the standards and guidelines of the State of Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. You will work under the supervision of the Charge Nurse and direction of the Director of Nursing, supporting physicians and Physician Extenders in the provision of patient care.

The ideal candidate will have experience in pediatric emergency care or medical surgical nursing, with a strong background in caring for complex pediatric cases. Certification in PALS is required, and proficiency in Spanish is preferred. A valid IL Driver's License is also necessary.

In this role, you will be responsible for:
  • Providing patient care and documenting conditions, interventions, observations, and activities in collaboration with a Registered Professional Nurse
  • Assisting physician with patient assessment examinations treatments and procedures
  • Orientating new staff when requested and attending mandatory in-services
  • Covering different work shifts if needed for patient safety

Responsibilities:
  1. Follow all Maryville policies and procedures, standard operating procedures for designated work sites/program, and medical operating procedures.
  2. Provide patient care and document conditions, interventions, observations, and activities in collaboration with a Registered Professional Nurse.
  3. Admit and discharge children using appropriate forms and complete them within one hour of admission/discharge.
  4. Educate and explain procedures to patients and family members and assist them in coping with illnesses and evaluate patient responses.
