We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Certified Lead Wastewater Treatment Operator to join our team at Veolia. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective operation of our water/wastewater treatment facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Tend to automatic and semi-automatic machines and related equipment, including pumps, engines, generators, valves, gates, mixers, conveyors, blowers, chemical feed, and odor control systems.
- Monitor control panels and adjust valves and gates manually or by remote control to regulate flow.
- Monitor flow meters, gauges, flow ratios, pressures, and related controls through instrument panels, computer terminals, and programmable logic control units.
- Monitor and record operating conditions, observations, and data in the area shift log.
- Ensure conformance to process specifications.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose operational problems and take corrective action per procedure.
- Verify and report suspected malfunctions and variances to supervisor.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance and maintenance-related items as assigned.
- Perform field tests (chemical, physical, and biological) to pace chemical dosages for process and odor control units or alter unit processes.
- Sample wastewater, sludge, and gases (odor control, digester, etc.) according to schedule.
- Prepare chemical solutions and service automatic samplers.
- Monitor process chemical supplies and recommend reorder.
- Perform lab tests applicable to permit testing and related reports per procedure.
- Perform instrument calibration for portable meters, including dissolved oxygen, pH, H2S, percent oxygen, and lower explosive limit.
- Perform manual labor, including filling and emptying machine bins and cleaning equipment, facilities, and grounds as required.
- Perform minor maintenance, including routine preventive maintenance, lubrication, and minor adjustments.
- Operate vehicles for plant operational purposes.
- Practice good housekeeping in assigned areas and properly dispose of waste according to safety and environmental policies.
- Assign, monitor, and review accuracy of work, with no authority for personnel actions.
- Model and teach compliance with all work practices, policies, and procedures.
This role requires 100% of the time to be spent in an operations environment. You may need to work outside in inclement weather conditions and drive a company vehicle to perform duties. Possible work hazards include exposure to fumes, toxic and caustic chemicals, heavy machinery, high pressure, hot or cold work environment temperatures, slippery surfaces, water hazards, and electrical equipment.
