Reporting To: Team Lead Supervisor

Compensation: $25.75 per hour

Classification: Non-exempt

Role Summary: The On Call Overnight Shelter Staff plays a crucial role in ensuring a secure and hygienic environment for both shelter personnel and residents. This position demands leadership qualities, decisiveness, and the ability to provide guidance and direction. Responsibilities outlined herein may contribute to the formulation or revision of performance review objectives for team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Security Duties:
    • Remain vigilant and alert throughout the entire shift, except during designated breaks.
    • Conduct perimeter inspections and walks to guarantee site safety.
    • Oversee the cleanliness and quality of facilities.
    • Manage access points, including gates and check-in areas.
  • Participant Engagement:
    • Monitor shelter participants effectively.
    • Interact with awake participants during overnight hours.
  • Facility Management:
    • Enforce quiet hours and nighttime protocols.
    • Ensure a safe environment for both staff and participants.
    • Maintain clear communication with all staff, programs, and community partners.
    • Ensure that all areas used by shelter participants and staff are kept clean, organized, and orderly throughout and after each shift, including the disposal of waste and cleaning of soiled items.
    • Document daily site notes to provide continuity for subsequent shifts.
  • Staffing Responsibilities:
    • Punctually attend scheduled shifts and take a full lunch break.
    • Participate in supervision, staff meetings, and relevant community professional gatherings.
    • Address participant needs as required.
    • Engage in all mandated training sessions as directed by the training and safety manager and site leadership.
    • Take part in daily crossover meetings.
    • Communicate pertinent information with Behavioral Health Specialists and other team members.
    • Complete assigned projects as requested.
    • Respond to phone inquiries.
    • Comply with all applicable state and federal privacy and security regulations, as well as company policies regarding confidentiality and security.

Supervisory Duties:

No supervisory responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of experience in a comparable role.
  • Familiarity with client information databases.
  • Experience in direct administrative or support services.
  • Understanding of human behavior, individual differences, and psychological research methods.
  • Ability to develop operational strategies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of business management principles related to strategic planning and resource allocation.

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field (preferred).
  • Relevant certifications or training.
  • Lived experience is a plus.

Essential Skills and Abilities:

  • Comprehension of Housing First and Harm Reduction models.
  • Professional maintenance of appropriate boundaries.
  • Adaptability to change and variety in the workplace.
  • Ability to effectively engage with colleagues and clients from diverse backgrounds.

  • Successful completion of a background check upon hiring.

Work Environment:

Indoor and outdoor settings with exposure to varying temperatures and conditions, including slippery and uneven surfaces.

Physical Demands:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.

Travel Requirements:

Occasional travel to other work sites may be necessary.
