Surgical Technologist

Banner Health is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Surgical Technologist to join our team at Banner Baywood Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona.
Job SummaryThis is a full-time position that requires manual dexterity, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain a calm and composed demeanor in high-stress situations. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and maintaining surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment, as well as providing support to surgeons and other medical staff during procedures.
Responsibilities- Prepare for surgical procedures by pulling and organizing instruments and supplies, and ensuring that all equipment is in good working order.
- Anticipate the needs of surgeons and pass instruments and retract tissue as needed.
- Maintain aseptic technique and universal precautions throughout the procedure, and dispose of sharps and trash properly.
- Participate in counting of sharps, instruments, and sponges, and prepare instruments for cleaning after each case.
- Assist with OR turnover between cases, and participate in stocking, replenishing supplies, and cleaning operating rooms.
- May provide business support to the department, including administrative tasks.
- Participate in or lead the training and orientation of surgical technology staff and students, as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent, and current basic life support certification.
- Registration with the State Regulatory Agency, where applicable.
- Manual dexterity and ability to maintain a calm and composed demeanor in high-stress situations.
- Ability to be conscientious, organized, and orderly, and to respond quickly to the needs of surgeons and patients.
- Graduation from a certified school of surgical technology, or two years of operating room experience.
- Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
