Job Summary

Gulf Island is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Offshore Rigger to join our team. As an Offshore Rigger, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to rigging, lifting, and moving heavy equipment and materials on offshore locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Rigging and Lifting Operations: Safely and efficiently rig and lift heavy equipment and materials on offshore locations, including pipes, plates, and other structures.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on cherry pickers, cranes, and other heavy equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Load Management: Coordinate the movement of heavy equipment and materials on and off barges, including setting up skid/rail components and loading completed structures onto barges.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with crane operators, cherry picker operators, and maintenance personnel to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Quality Control: Inspect and report any defective rigging equipment to the rigging foreman immediately.
  • Environmental Awareness: Work in a variety of environmental conditions, including hot, cold, humid, wet, and dry conditions, and take necessary precautions to ensure a safe working environment.
Requirements
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to stand for long periods, walk, turn, twist, bend, and stoop, and lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally 50-75 pounds.
  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED, and at least 2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Skills and Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and possess a TWIC card.
