Position Overview
Reporting to the Senior Director of Content Development, the Senior Content Writer is responsible for crafting and enhancing communications aimed at alumni and donors across various platforms, aligning with UMAF's strategic fundraising and engagement goals.

Key Responsibilities
1. Collaborate with the Senior Director and the Marketing Communications team to execute communication strategies that promote campaign priorities and alumni engagement.
2. Create and refine engaging digital and print materials that highlight UMass Amherst's academic and research excellence, encouraging alumni participation and philanthropy.
3. Generate concepts for impact narratives and donor profiles for the UMAF Newsletter and campaign website; conduct interviews and write compelling content while working with the MarCom team to disseminate these stories.
4. Acquire a deep understanding of the campaign's foundational commitments and the fundraising priorities of each academic unit to develop messaging and templates for fundraisers.
5. Research and draft suggested remarks for university leaders and key volunteers, focusing on fundraising and volunteer engagement.
6. Assist the MarCom team in ensuring all communications adhere to the university's branding and editorial standards.

Additional Duties
Support UMAF's growth by undertaking other projects and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field.
- At least five years of writing experience in journalism, communications, or marketing, preferably in higher education.
- Exceptional writing and communication skills, with a proven ability to persuade.
- Experience writing for diverse audiences across multiple channels.
- Strong collaborative skills with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at various levels.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines while maintaining high quality.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in writing donor proposals or grant applications is a plus.
