Job Summary

In this role, you will work collaboratively with the patient, their family, and other members of the healthcare team to assess, evaluate, plan, implement, and coordinate a treatment plan. You will be responsible for achieving positive patient and departmental outcomes, and will have the opportunity to develop your skills and expertise in critical care nursing.

Responsibilities
  • Assess and evaluate patients with critical illness and vent management
  • Respond to Code Blue situations and initiate protocol, special procedures, and cardiac monitoring
  • Manage the efficient flow of patients, including screening, preparation for exam, providing general nursing care, and arranging or testing and admissions
  • Instruct patients and families regarding medications and treatment instructions
  • Maintain and review patients' records, including posting tests and examination results
  • Administer medications in accordance with physician orders
  • Check rooms daily for necessary supplies
  • Respond to and refer incoming telephone calls, including phone triage when needed
Requirements
  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing: Associate's Degree in Nursing or higher is required
  • Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state which you practice and/or hold an active Compact/Multi-State RN license
  • A current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider is required
  • A current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Health Care Provider is preferred and required to be obtained within 90 days months of hire/transfer date
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification must be complete within 90 days of hire or transfer date
  • Minimum of one year acute surgical critical care nursing experience required
