Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Care Practitioner to join our team at St. Croix Health. As a key member of our Respiratory Care Department, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care and providing therapeutic procedures to patients with breathing disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and treat patients with breathing disorders, including initiating and conducting therapeutic procedures.
  • Provide emergency care, such as artificial respiration, external cardiac massage, or assistance with cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Monitor patient's physiological responses to therapy, such as vital signs, arterial blood gases, or blood chemistry changes, and consult with physician if adverse reaction occurs.
  • Explain treatment procedures to patients to gain cooperation and allay fears.
  • Make emergency visits to resolve equipment problems.
  • Determine requirements for treatment, such as type, method and duration of therapy, precautions to be taken, or medication and dosages, compatible with physicians' orders.
  • Educate patients and their families about their conditions and teach appropriate disease management techniques, such as breathing exercises or the use of medications or respiratory equipment.
  • Perform pulmonary function testing to evaluate patients' respiratory status and ensure that pulmonary function equipment is functioning properly.
  • Assist with endotracheal intubation to maintain open airways for patients who are unable to breathe on their own.
Requirements
  • National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) credentialed, registry preferred.
  • Current WI License required.
  • BLS required.
  • ACLS, preferred.
  • NRP, preferred.
  • Minimum one year experience preferred.
