Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Piedmont Athens Regional Specialty Services. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain and document patient medical and physical histories, as well as other relevant information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Perform vital signs, EKGs, spirometry, and other office procedures as needed.
  • Assist licensed staff during patient treatment, examination, and testing, including injections and immunizations.
  • Record and report patient adverse reactions to medication and treatment.
  • Perform lab duties, including phlebotomy, order entry, specimen collection, and labeling for delivery to testing authorities.
  • Under the supervision of licensed personnel, distribute educational information and instructions for patient care, diagnostics, and treatments.
  • Coordinate telephone and in-basket requests for prescription refills and test results, responding accordingly to provider instructions.
  • Prepare and maintain examination/treatment rooms, including inventory management and supply ordering.
  • Practice Standard Precautions, including handwashing and bio-hazardous material disposal, and comply with risk management, HIPAA, and safety procedures.
  • Attend required meetings, in-services, and participate in committees as needed.
  • Assist with administrative duties, including procedure scheduling and completion of medical and physical history forms.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program or completion of a Nursing Assistant program is required.
  • In lieu of formal education, one year of medical assistant or related clinical experience is required.
  • BLS certification is required.
  • Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or a similarly recognized certifying organization is required.
